February 2025 Update
Key Updates:
Over 100 of the 164 Properties within the Special Assessment District signed the petition to fix our roads.
The signed petitions were submitted to the Township for signature verification and approval.
January 13, 2025 - the Petition and signatures were unanimously accepted and approved by the Bloomfield Township Board.
The first Public Hearing of necessity – Monday, February 24, 7:00pm. A mailing has been sent by the Township to each of the (164) Properties in the SAD. These arrived Saturday, February 8th, in the mail. In addition, the notice was printed in Oakland Press on Sunday, February 8th
This meeting will give homeowners the chance to voice their support and any concerns
Assuming the Petition is approved at the 1st Public Hearing on February 24th. The project will go to Road Commission of Oakland County (RCOC), where it will wait to be bid, which probably won't happen until the end of this year or beginning of next year.
Once it is bid, the Township will hold their final public hearing of assessment, which is when the project will be fully approved. The expected timing of the project is 2026
While it is unlikely if, by some chance, the final bid comes in over 10% of the original estimate, we must go back through the process again. RCOC is very good in their estimates, so while the Township does not anticipate that being an issue, I don't want to rule it out completely given the circumstances.
